What to do if you breakdown

In the unfortunate event that you do need breakdown recovery assistance, requesting our help is now easier than ever.

We have multiple ways you can let us know you’ve broken down, so you can pick the one that works best for you.

Once your breakdown recovery is in progress, we will keep you updated on the status of your callout by text or phone call.

1. Download our self-service app and let us know you’ve broken down in seconds

2. Call our rescue helpline and select the option to receive a self-service online link by text message (no app required)

3. We’re still at the end of the phone if you prefer to speak to one of our rescue co-ordinators

Calls to 03 numbers cost no more than a national rate call to an 01 or 02 number and when called from any type of line including mobile, BT or other fixed line, should count towards any inclusive minutes in the same way as 01 and 02 calls.

Please have the following breakdown cover information available when you phone:

• Your name, membership number and postcode
• The phone number (including area code) you are calling from
• The location of the broken down vehicle, including road numbers or names and landmarks
• The registration number, make, model and colour

Deaf, hard of hearing or speech impaired?

If you are deaf, hard of hearing or speech impaired, please send a text message containing your full name, membership number, vehicle registration and home postcode to 07537 404890.

Once we have taken your breakdown cover details and made all the arrangements, we will contact you to advise who will be assisting you and how long they are expected to take. If you are able to, please ensure your mobile phone is available to accept calls or texts at all times, just in case we need to contact you.

However you choose to contact us, we’ll be there for you day or night, 365 days a year. We use a nationwide network of approved local independent recovery operators, which means wherever you break down, help is not far away.
